The gap, not the surface
Void fill takes up empty space so the goods do not hit the walls of the box. Bubble wrap cushions a surface. Tape closes the carton. If a closed box can be shaken and the contents move, the void is not filled.
A smaller box is often the better first step. Fill is for an awkward shape, or for when there is no carton close to the goods. A box that is much too large uses a lot of fill and still protects less well.
What the ranges list
Loose fill and paper void fill are in the protection range. Packing peanuts are the loose chips. The eco-friendly page describes Ecoflo peanuts as made from corn starch and as a biodegradable void fill. It also lists air pillows made from recycled material, and paper void fill described as recycled and recyclable.
Foam wrap, corrugated paper and honeycomb paper are sheets. Edge strips protect a corner. They do not fill a void. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day.
